Judy will call the The Loft studio at the Box Hill Community Art Centre her working home for the next 18 months as she focuses on a project based on women’s issues and the building of self worth through the use of art (painting) and craft (patchwork).
Judy will run a series of informal and free textile workshops for International Women residing within the City of Whitehorse. These will explore migration stories so as to document these journeys in a patchwork format, culminating with a public exhibition at the completion of the workshop. Please call the centre on 9895 8888 to register your interest.
Judy’s main focus in the arts is multimedia – painting, installation and patchwork. She is currently completing her Master of Fine Arts at RMIT University two days a week and has already achieved a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art), Diploma of Visual Arts and Diploma of Stitch and Studio Textile.
Judy has been involved in group works at galleries, organising Christmas programs, children’s puppetry and has organised a life performance as part of works undertaken for her Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) course.
It is the first time in nine years that the Box Hill Community Arts Centre has offered the artist in residence program due to The Loft studio previously being occupied by a tenant. With the space becoming free at the end of 2008, it was decided to reinstate the artist in residence program.
The Box Hill Community Arts Centre is excited to welcome Judy to its vibrant community.
