Home > Arts & Culture in Whitehorse
There's plenty in the mix.
The City of Whitehorse is one of the most dynamic art and cultural hubs in metropolitan Melbourne. There’s something for everyone – exhibitions, music, festivals, theatre, heritage, and arts and craft.
Within Whitehorse, Box Hill Central Activity District is one of the many places worth exploring. Box Hill is a hub of activity with a multicultural mix of shops, restaurants and the annual Chinese New Year celebration which attracts up to 70,000 visitors. The architectural icon of Box Hill Town Hall is home to the Whitehorse Art Collection and Art Space Gallery. The collection is significant for its ceramics and includes landscape works that reference traditions of the Australian Impressionists who established an Artists’ Camp at Box Hill in 1885. Just down the road from the Town Hall is the popular Box Hill Community Arts Centre where art courses, classes, workshops and performances continue the tradition of fostering creativity in Whitehorse.
