I was at the first gathering of interested people to start a choir with Belinda. If I recall correctly there were 60 or 70 there and a very mixed bunch. I remember being amazed that within 20 minutes of us starting to sing, Belinda had us singing in harmony! I was astonished and completely hooked! Apart from absences when working overseas, Sunday community singing at BHCAC became my staple activity on the weekend. Many faces have come and gone, but there is a solid core of about 30 who derive great joy from the opportunity to sing together in that wonderful space, guided and encouraged by Belinda, who is a consummate teacher. Her patience is legendary and her creativity a constant delight. I am sure I speak for all of us when I say she is much loved and highly respected. Friendships have been formed and many stories shared among us over the years. It’s a community which brings much meaning and support to all of us. Under the current pandemic restrictions this year, we have been unable to meet in person, but Belinda has kept us together via Zoom. All of us eagerly await the loosening of restrictions so we can be together again at BHCAC, singing and sharing together.
